SPUP trainers, Mr. Ronaldo Sumait, Mr. Santiago Tagacay, and Mr. Venancio Pamittan were assisted by two BBY Social Workers, Ms. Margie Espilan-Obonan and Dianne Roxas who attended the Training for Trainers of JAWs (Job Access with Speech) held on March 24-28, 2008 at the same venue.
The participants, composed of young adults of various disabilities, were trained on the use of Microsoft Office Applications such as Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word. Basic internet skills were also introduced especially the use of e-mail.
Three (3) of the participants who were visually impaired were assisted by JAWS in the training. JAWS is a screen reader that “reads” and converts to audio whatever text or operation appears in the computer screen. KDCs offer JAWS to make information available to persons with disabilities.
